After weeks of superb talent, dramatic episodes, shocking eliminations and unnecessary ways of fluffing up a two-hour time slot, the season 2 finale of The X Factor is wrap!

TATE STEVANS crowned as the winner of The X Factor USA Season2 and receive a $5 million recording contract and instant super stardom!

Check out the RECAP after the jump!

Welcome to the red carpet of The X Factor season 2 finale from co-hostsMario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian-Odom. The X Factor 2012 judges Britney Spears, Simon Cowell, L. A. Reid and Demi Lovato have arrived. Guest performers Pitbull and One Direction are also in the house.

The top 3 finalist acts make their red carpet appearance after arriving in Escalades, singing along to the tune of “All You Need is Love” as they enter the premiere…

All three of the final acts will perform holiday songs tonight in honor of the season. The first performance of the evening goes to Tate Stevens with “Bells Will Be Ringing”…

Coach LA Reid takes a moment to talk about how fabulous Tate has been all season and how he hopes he’ll have enough votes to win.

The performance is actually kind of adorable. Dressed in candy cane attire, red and white, the girls stand next to carousel horses, because that’s relevant. I love these girls!

Here’s one I’ve been waiting on. The best part of all season of The X-Factor. Britney’s facial expressions!

TOO CUTE :3.. Next!

Naturally, she blows it out of the water and looks like she’s doing her nails while belting the roof off the auditorium.

After all the performances then we’ll learn who is the third place finalist and will not be winning The X Factor season 2! AND the act in third place this evening and out of the running to win is…

Fifth Harmony! Ally is obviously the emotional one, tearing up as she explains that she’s thankful that she and the other girls were put together in this group. Simon says, again, that we’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more of Fifth Harmony in the future.

Next, the guest stars Pitbull hits the stage with “Don’t Stop the Party” from his new album Global Warming as well as One Direction with “Kiss You” from their multi-platinum album, Take Me Home.

Now the last two finalists, Carly Rose Sonenclar and Tate Stevens, make Britney Spears cry with a duet of “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus

It’s finally time to announce this season’s winner! And the winner is..

Tate Stevans! "First, and foremost I’ve got to thank the man upstairs for taking care of me," says Tate through those infamous tears. Carly Rose put up a fantastic fight, but my predictions held solid. America saw something special in Tate and his story and he now has a $5 million contract.

Well congrats Daddy Tate!

From Britney Spears’ twitter after the show:

You are a winner in my eyes tonight Carly Rose Sonenclar & I know you’re going to have a very long career…
